Getting Started with TributeSim

Welcome to TributeSim, the fictional battle royale simulator! This guide will help you create your first dramatic hunger games simulation.

What is TributeSim?

TributeSim is a browser-based simulator that generates text-only fictional battle scenarios. You can:

  • Configure 24 tributes with custom names and avatars
  • Watch the simulation unfold day by day
  • Export results as shareable images
  • Play again with different configurations

Quick Setup (3 Steps)

1. Configure Your Tributes

On the homepage, you'll see a grid of 24 tribute slots. For each tribute:

  • Name: Enter a custom name or use "Random Fill" for instant setup
  • Gender: Choose M, F, or They (affects pronouns in events)
  • Avatar: Upload a photo or leave blank for a placeholder

Pro tip: Use the "Random Fill" button to populate all 24 slots instantly with preset names!

2. Verify Your Age

TributeSim contains text-based fictional violence (cartoon-style, non-graphic). Before starting, you'll need to confirm you're 13+ years old.

3. Launch the Simulation

Click the "Start Hunger Games Simulator" button. You'll be taken to the simulation page where events unfold automatically or manually (your choice).

Understanding the Simulation

Event Types

  • Bloodbath: The initial chaos when the simulation starts
  • Day Events: Daytime activities (searching for supplies, forming alliances)
  • Night Events: Nighttime activities (resting, ambushes)
  • Feast: Special mid-game events

Controls

  • Next: Manually advance to the next event
  • Auto Play: Automatically play through events with a delay
  • Skip Day: Jump to the next day's events

Tracking Progress

The status badge shows how many tributes remain alive. The simulation ends when only one tribute survives.

Tips for Beginners

  1. Start simple: Use "Random Fill" for your first simulation to see how it works
  2. Experiment with settings: Try different fatality rates (Low/Medium/High)
  3. Customize avatars: Add photos of pets, fictional characters, or drawings for more immersion
  4. Export results: Download the final summary image to share with friends

What Happens After?

When the simulation ends, you'll see:

  • Winner announcement: The sole survivor is revealed
  • Leaderboard: Top 3 tributes by kill count
  • Summary card: Exportable image with final statistics

Click "Play Again" to return to the homepage and create a new simulation with different tributes.

FAQ

Q: Is my data uploaded to a server?
A: No! All avatars and tribute data stay in your browser's local storage. TributeSim never uploads user data.

Q: Can I save my tribute configuration?
A: Yes, your tribute roster is automatically saved in your browser. Close the page and return later - your tributes will still be there.

Q: Are the events random?
A: Events are procedurally generated using a seed-based random system. The same seed will produce the same sequence of events, but different seeds create different stories.

Next Steps

Now that you know the basics, try these advanced techniques:

  • Create themed rosters: Pick tributes from your favorite fictional universes
  • Host watch parties: Set up a simulation and let friends watch in real-time
  • Experiment with fatality rates: See how Low vs High rates affect the story
